Wepper was born in Munich, Germany, on August 17, 1941. He began his acting career in the early 1960s, appearing in a number of films and television shows. In 1974, he was cast as Inspector Harry Klein in 'Derrick,' a role that he would play for over 20 years. The series was a huge success, and Wepper became one of the most popular actors in Germany.
In addition to 'Derrick,' Wepper appeared in a number of other films and television shows, including 'Cabaret' (1972), 'For Heaven's Sake' (1994), and 'The Old Fox' (1995-2015). He also worked as a voice actor, lending his voice to the German dub of 'The Lion King' (1994).
